On Altered Books, Creative Acts, and Origin of Fire/Day 7

Blogging along with Effy--Day 7

--------------------------------------------------------
I've started the cover of an altered book.

The theme is All Things Sacred.  The book I'm altering is a large book called The Great Age of Fresco.  It has wonderful images that will work well with the theme.

I love using fabric covers sometimes for altered books, and this one wanted a rich fabric cover.  I picked a black and floral fabric that feels kind of like a tapestry.  It was a little more difficult working with on the corners, but I managed somehow.

Today I spent the day in creativity for a 24 hour creative challenge given by Shiloh Sophia McCloud of the Cosmic Cowgirls.  I began the process by gluing the fabric down.  It is time consuming, but I listened to the chant-type music Origin of Fire and burned a candle as I created.

Sometimes when I was rubbing the fabric to smooth it out with the glue, I would find my hands following the rhythm of the music.  I felt one with the fabric and the sound.  Often, I glanced over to the fire and that reminded me of Source, of All That Is.

So I'm just in the beginning phases.  Not sure what is going to take place inside.  I don't have a lot of experience in backgrounds, but I won't let that stop me.  I'll just see what comes.

I've posted pictures of my cover and of the cover of the book before I altered it.  As I get pages done, I'll post them here.

Here's to all things new and to 24 hours of creativity.

Maybe a 24 hour creative act is calling you.
